The Beauty of Technology.

These guys have brought together so many different facets of technology to create a thing of beauty.

Classical music and sleek, sexy racing cars burning up lots of fossil fuels, brought to you by the power of teh interwebz.

Does it get any better?

I think it does.

Happy Birthday To The Not Angry Black Woman

Friend --

Michelle's birthday is today -- and I think you'll agree with me when I say she's a pretty special woman.

So I hope you'll take a moment to sign her card before we deliver it. You can even leave a note if you'd like:

After all, everyone loves hearing from friends on their birthday. And the year ahead is going to be a tough one, so I know this card will mean the world to Michelle.

Thanks,

Jill

I think everyone should take time out to say Happy Birthday to the First Not-Angry Black Woman of the USA.

After all, she deserves it.

According to Jill Biden that is.

Mind you, the amount of mail I get from Team Barry asking for donations or subscriptions is phenomenal.

So, I signed, just to see where the links would take me, and wouldn't you know it?

Another(!) site asking for donations.

I was going to donate $10 and see where the site would lead me to next, and if it would accept payments from Oz, but I'm a legal US citizen (although not a natural born one and thus ineligible for the Presidency. Not that stopped our mate Barry), so that would defeat the purpose.

I wonder how many foreign donors he'll be getting this year? And will Michelle give up the belts as a birthday gift to the rest of us?

Ah, Post-Modern Culture. You've Got To Love It.

I've been spending far too much time on facebook lately, and it most definitely interferes with, oh, near everything. It's handy for watching what's going on in the world, as I have an eclectic group of 'friends' consisting of family, workmates, friends, acquaintances, and random people I've come across and like their comments.

Unfortunately, though, there are so many people out there who are truly clueless and have no inclination to find a clue.

The TMI Files. Art Attack.

Just for Dan, who comments on Magilla's remarkable ability to spin a yarn.

While I agree with the Bulwer-Lytton analogy, the thing to remember is that she is 9 and he was..... a lot older.

Anyway, she's also a top-notch artist. Particularly where political hacktivism could be concerned.

She's been picking up the propaganda from school quite nicely, but also seeing through it as in the case of her school friends who are not allowed to wear shorts in summer because it's against their religion. "It's not fair in summer, and the boys are allowed to wear shorts."

Who on earth thinks that kids are stupid? They're little sponges and will soak up more than you expect.

Especially in the schoolyard where they see the double standards that are being applied around them.

This is not a comment on the school policy, by the way. The school is very accommodating of the differing cultures in our area of outer-eastern Boganland, and I've only had to make any comments to the teachers a few times (once for 'Japanese people are evil because they kill and eat whales in Preps, and then earlier last year to suss out the level of politically correct crap to be fed to the kids on a trip to see penguins at the Aquarium.)

Back to the art, however.

This is my current favourite.

Note the attention to detail - even the armpits are hairy. The look of fear on the face of the creature facing its imminent demise along with that of its home.

What's not to love? Greenpeace should give my girl a job.

Mind you, after watching that ad, I think I'm going to have to buy shares in Nestle.
